If you need a break from all the gray you see outside, then you need to take a trip to Bergen, Norway.
In particular, the historic district of Bryggen is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The tall and slim wooden townhouses are painted in red, white and orange hues, which blend together like a sunset. Their reflection in the Vågen bay is particularly stunning to see.
Oh, and I can't forget to mention the culture! Bryggen is known for its street art, and there are several museums you can visit to learn a bit more about the Hanseatic League. Plus, there's plenty of shopping to do as merchants of all kinds line the water.
